Two academics have been sentenced to 1 year and 3 months and one has been sentenced to 1 year and 6 months in prison in today's hearings. The court has also ruled that academic Gülsün Güvenli shall visit a 'martyr's family'.

The trial of the Peace Academics, who have been charged with "propagandizing for a terrorist organization" for having signed the declaration entitled "We will not be a party to this crime" prepared by the Academics for Peace, continued in İstanbul Çağlayan Courthouse today (February 12).

While academic Sinem Aydınlı has been given a deferred prison sentence of 1 year, 3 months, the Presiding Judge interrupted the defense of attorney Soydan, who said, “If our client came here today as a mafia leader, she would be acquitted."

Trial of academics, who have been charged with "propagandizing for a terrorist organization" for having signed the declaration entitled "We will not be a party to this crime" prepared by the Academics for Peace, continued in İstanbul Çağlayan Courthouse today (February 6).

The case, in which Esra Mungan, Meral Camcı, Muzaffer Kaya and Kıvanç Ersoy are being tried, has been adjourned to May 23. The court has ruled that Kaya and Ersoy shall make their defense statements in the countries where they live.

Dr. Lecturer Yonca Demir from Bilgi University has been sentenced to 3 years in prison. The presiding judge announced the verdict saying, "We gave a two-year sentence. Then we increased it to three years. And we did not reverse the verdict."
